We Hear…..North Fork New Tidbits

Tomorrow is the first day of March and The North Fork is coming back to life…here are a few juicy North Fork News Tidbits of interest we heard over the winter….

Actress Drew Barrymore was at Suki’s nail salon in Greenport last week. The lucky few local residents who were at the salon that day reported that the actress was super friendly and was chatting on her phone with actor Adam Sandler.

In other celebrity sightings the past few months….Danny DeVito hung out at North Fork Taps and Corks in Southold; Rupert Friend, Tom Collichio, and Diane Lane picked up spirits and wine at Spirited in Greenport (soon to be One Kourt Studio wine shop); and we hear that Kelsey Grammer was big fan of Green Hill Kitchen. And, of course, you never know who you will see in Aldo’s. Musicians, actors, writer, newscasters pop in for his coffee and scones. Say hello to Joey Pantoliano (of Sopranos and more recently, Bad Boys and From the Vine) who is a regular.

New York Housewives actress LuAnn de Lesseps purchased gorgeous handmade jewelry at the Weathered Barn in Greenport and wore it for an episode of the show.

We hear that actress Amy Ryan (The Office and Gone Baby Gone) was spotted in Mattituck on a few occasions. She was filming a Netflix series.

Also, actress Rachel Bilson picked up a coffee at North Fork Roasting Co. in Southold.

And, as many local North Forkers know, Actress Frances McDormand and her husband, director, Joel Coen are North Fork fans. (They favored the now-closed Salamander’s in Greenport) and can sometimes be found shopping and dining in the area . Also, look for Edie Falco (Sopranos, Nurse Jackie and Tommy) who folks say they have spotted around the North Fork.

Ok, onto other news… a transformation of Industry Standard is underway. Look for a new name, new look and a new menu. And, we hear that Porto Bello restaurant has turned over to new owners. Rumor also has it that changes to Barba Bianca might be in the works…..owner and chef Frank DeCarlo sold his popular Manhattan eatery Peasant last fall. Will he keep Barba Bianca as is or make changes? Stay tuned and we will see…..

And, North Fork Table and Inn, under new owner chef John Fraser of JK Restaurants, is seeking a new Executive Chef. Look for a late spring/early summer opening.
