Spend Some Time at the Ice House at The Old Field Vineyards
Posted On 05/13/2019
The Old Field Vineyards in Southold is now renting out the historic 1860s ice house for small private gatherings.
The ice house, restored last year in part with funds raised from a special Ice House Rescue Cab Franc, sits in a bucolic setting near a pond and within view of the vineyards.
The Old Field, set on a waterfront farm on Main Road, is run by the fourth and fifth generation of the Baiz family – Christian and Ros Baiz along with their grown children Perry and Ryan Weiss.
Now, Ros and Perry are the winemakers for The Old Field – a rare mother-daughter viticulture team. Visit the rustic tasting barn and receive a warm welcome from them plus plenty of wine options. With about 1,000 cases produced each year, they sell almost exclusively from the century-old Farm.
There are two options for renting the ice house for intimate get-togethers and celebrations.
Option #1: Gatherings of between 6-10 people at the ice house include a tour of the vineyard, box lunch from Grace & Grit and a wine tastings (5). Groups can also purchase wine and relax by the pond and ice house. Three hour event. ($70 pp or $50 pp for wine club members)
Option #2: Groups of up to 10 can rent the ice house and gated grounds per hour and bring in their own food (and purchase on-premise bottles from Old Field) ($75 per hour or $50 for wine club members)
