Looking to pick your own apples and pumpkins on the North Fork this fall? Here are a few places to go. Keep in mind, these are working farms so most don’t allow pets or outside food. Also, many local farm owners and growers have rules about photography so inquire before setting up a tri-pod etc.
North Fork Apple Picking
Harbes Orchard – Sound Avenue, Riverhead. Apple picking on the 78-acre farm is open on weekends and holidays. Price per pound and an early bird special admission fee of just $10 if you arrive 9am-10:30am. Harbes is hosting an Apple Festival on September 14 and 15. Live music, corn maze and events all day.
Wickham’s Fruit Farm, Main Road Cutchogue. Apple picking Monday through Friday 10 am-4pm in designated areas of the farm. While supplies last. The farm is closed on Sundays.
Woodside Orchard, two North Fork apple picking locations – at their Jamesport Manor Lane farm, apple picking is open Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm. At their Main Road Aquebogue location, apple picking is open weekdays (except Wednesdays) starting September 23.
Lewin Family Farm, Sound Avenue, Calverton. Apple picking daily. Closed Tuesdays. Also, a corn maze.
Pick Your Own Pumpkins
Stakey’s Pumpkin Farm, West Lane, Aquebogue. Pumpkin picking daily starting September 21. $40 all you can carry or .69 cents per pound, Weekdays 12pm-5pm and weekends 9am-5pm. Weekends events also include Hay Ride, Corn Maze, Bounce House, Roasted Corn, Snack Shack and Face Painting
Harbes has three pumpkin-picking locations on the North Fork. At the Harbes Family Farm, Sound Avenue in Mattituck, you can pick your own pumpkins daily starting September 21. At Harbes Farm on Main Road in Jamesport, you can pick on weekends and holidays starting September 14. And at their Sound Avenue, Riverhead Harbes Orchard, pumpkin picking is now open on weekends and holidays. Price is by the pound.
Krupski Farm, Main Road, Peconic. Pumpkin picking daily while supplies last. Price per pound.
Shamrock Christmas Tree Farm, Main Road, Cutchogue. You pick pumpkins on weekends starting September 14. Also, children’s train rides and cigar tastings.
