New Cafe and Bar in Greenport Village

A new bar and cafe is proposed in Greenport Village at the former Gallery 429 location.

Emily Demarchelier is seeking approval from the Village to open the bar and cafe at 471 Main Street (next to Stirling Sake) Ms. Demarchelier managed her family’s popular French bistro restaurant, Demarchelier, in Manhattan. The bistro is closing after 40 years on the Upper East Side.

The new cafe and bar are not the only changes proposed in the Village:

In addition, the owners of Layyah on Front Street are seeking permission to add a commercial kitchen and outdoor seating.

Rumors had circulated this past summer that the former Capital One Bank building on Main Street was on track for a first floor eatery with apartments above. But, that is not the case. Northwell Health is looking to add medical offices in the former bank.

And, lastly – more hotel rooms are the subject of additional applications before the Village: the Greenporter and American Beech are both seeking permission to expand. And, Harbor Knoll Bed and Breakfast on Fourth Street is looking to add two new rooms for a total of five.
