As the 2019 summer season approaches, renovations are underway at a number of new North Fork restaurants. Take a look at five of the most anticipated.
Maroni Cuisine, a popular Northport restaurant, is expanding operations to the North Fork. Renovations are being completed at the former Jeni’s Main Street Grill in Southold. Maroni’s offers take-out and will have some limited seating. The Food Network and the Today Show on NBC have showcased Maroni’s specialties. Look for their famous meatballs.
Ellen’s on Front is moving into the space that housed Salamander’s in Greenport Village. Siblings Jennie and Andrew Werts plan to open the restaurant in late spring. The Werts also own – and will continue to run – the popular Jennie’s at Drossos a few miles west in Greenport. Ellen’s on Front will feature “comfort food with a twist.”
The North Fork Roadhouse in Mattituck will open at the Sound Avenue site that once housed Porto Bello. Extensive renovations are underway on the building, which has been vacant for years. The owners plan a tasting room offering beer, wine, cider and spirits plus casual fare. An autumn 2019 opening is planned.
The Owners of Green Hill Kitchen and Industry Standard are planning a new seafood restaurant, Anker, at the site of the former Deep Water Grille on the corner of Front Street and First Street in Greenport Village. As of Friday, the name has not been officially revealed. But, the eatery is described as an upscale seafood restaurant with waterfront views.
Pearl is set to open this year in Greenport at the site of the former Taste boutique. Owner Jennifer O’Brien has been working with the Village Planning Board and completing interior renovations. The cozy Main Street space is expected to have fewer than 50 seats.
